CUPCAKES ON THE FLY AT PHILADELPHIA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Local Food Truck Vendor, Cupcakeology, Arrives at PHL
PHILADELPHIA — September 9, 2013 — Traveling through Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is now a piece of “cupcake” thanks to the addition of Cupcakeology. The airport’s newest kiosk, located in Terminal B, is serving up an array of sweet treats for passengers.
Among the more than 40 flavors to choose from, some of Cupcakeology’s leading sellers include: Lemon Drop, a light lemon cupcake filled with a lemon curd with lemon butter cream frosting; What’s Up Doc, which features sweet carrots, walnuts and raisins, all packed into a cinnamon infused cupcake with a cream cheese frosting; and the Cookie Monster, which boasts Madagascar bourbon vanilla speckled with crushed Oreo cookies with an Oreo cookie and cream frosting.
“Opening a kiosk is a great opportunity for merchants to try their business in the airport environment, which sees more than 30 million passengers each year,” said Mel Hannah, vice president and general manager of MarketPlace Philadelphia Management, the company responsible for the management and leasing operations of PHL’s 160 retail locations. “We’re pleased to welcome Cupcakeology to our diverse mix of merchants.”
Cupcakeology is a local bakery based in Collingdale, Pa. The business was founded by husband and wife team, Robert and Jennifer Morris. Jennifer has been baking her own pound cakes since the age of nine, and Robert has commercial baking experience from past positions as a kitchen manager.
