Philadelphia International Airport Welcomes LeBus Bakery

Premier Philadelphia Bakery Debuts PHL Food and Shops Location

PHILADELPHIA — September 16, 2011— A haven of baked pastries and gourmet La Colombe brand coffee can now be found at the top of Terminal C. Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is now home to LeBus Bakery, a Philadelphia-based staple since 1978, known for serving up the freshest breads, rolls and pastries daily.

“LeBus offers a small slice of fresh baked Philadelphia for every traveler to indulge in,” said Clarence LeJeune, President of the Philadelphia Marketplace Food & Shops. “Providing passengers with superior, gourmet items is just one way we are working to diversify our dining options.”

An official ribbon-cutting ceremony to establish LeBus’s new home at the top of Terminal C took place on Wednesday, Sept. 14. Among the officials in attendance were James Tyrrell, Deputy Director of PHL, David Braverman, owner of LeBus as well as Todd Carmichael and Jean Philippe Iberti, owners of La Colombe. Guests enjoyed a first-taste sampling of pastries and coffee.

The bakery offers breakfast and lunch featuring muffins, croissants, bagels, plus hot and fresh paninis including “Fresh Mozzarella” with tomato and basil, “The Italian” with prosciutto, “Chili Roasted Chicken” and more. LeBus also offers more savory original creations such as a Thai turkey salad, brown rice nut salad and chicken caesar salad.

LeBus will also feature Philly-favorite, La Colombe coffee. For 17 years, the La Colombe creators have been devoted to sharing their appreciation for the skills of the European coffee roaster and the ever-evolving fine cuisine in America. La Colombe combines these two ideas to create a balanced and round, but not overbearing, coffee designed for the palate.

“The flying public has come to expect excellence when patronizing the Airport’s food, beverage, retail and amenity offerings,” said Airport CEO Mark Gale. “We are excited to have LeBus, a Philadelphia company, join our award-winning concessions program as we continue to strive to provide superior, food, beverage, retail, service and amenity choices for our travelers.”

David Sterling and Rita Bhasker, owners of Guava & Java located in Terminals A East, B and E, operate the co-branded LeBus location. “We’re proud to bring this iconic, culinary brand to the Philadelphia International Airport,” said David Sterling during the ribbon cutting ceremony.
