Philadelphia International Airport Welcomes Minute Suites®

Second U.S. airport to provide a travelers’ retreat within mix of Food & Shops

PHILADELPHIA — March 30, 2011— A private oasis right in the terminal! Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is now the second airport in the United States to offer an exciting new service through Minute Suites® that allows passengers to relax, conduct business and even sleep in spacious, private suites between flights or during long delays. PHL joins the world’s busiest airport, Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International, in adding this unique passenger service.

“Unique and personalized services, like Minute Suites®, are what we strive to deliver for our passengers at PHL,” said Clarence LeJeune, President of the Philadelphia Marketplace Food & Shops. “We’re continuing to diversify our food and shops mix by providing a private, relaxing retreat within the airport, making traveling even more enjoyable.”

Minute Suites® at PHL will feature 13 private suites and two workstation cubicles located in the A/B Link, making it nearly three times larger than their Atlanta location where they have hosted over 10,000 guests since opening their doors on November 18, 2009. Suites are priced at only $30 for a one hour minimum stay and then $7.50 for every 15 minutes thereafter. Rate reductions begin at four hours including a flat overnight rate of $120.

According to Daniel Solomon, CEO of Minute Suites®, “Our expansion to Philadelphia and our success at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport defines our position as the concept leader among airports. Passengers are comfortable with the suite design and they really appreciate our well-trained staff.”

PHL’s Minute Suites® location will be staffed by students from Temple University’s School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. The unique partnership allows students to gain real-world experience in their field of study.

“Creative and innovative endeavors like Minute Suites® are what make the hospitality industry so dynamic,” said Elizabeth Barber, PhD, CHE, Associate Dean of Temple University’s School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. “We wish them well and welcome them to the Philadelphia market.”

Each suite is equipped with a daybed sofa that features two sleeping surfaces with fresh pillows and blankets. A sound-masking system in each suite neutralizes noise, and the unique NAP26Tm audio program helps deliver the equivalent of three hours of sleep in only 26 minutes! Each room has a high-definition television with access to DIRECTV, the Internet, and flight-tracking information.
