A Philly Original Joins The Award-Winning Concessions Portfolio

PHILADELPHIA Aug. 23, 2019 — Philadelphia Marketplace, the food and retail shops at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), celebrated the opening of Jim’s South Street Steaks in Terminal C, near Gate C24, with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

Jim’s South Street Steaks is one of the Philly originals, offering the finest cheesesteaks and hoagies from the heart of the city that made them famous. Having opened in 1976 on what’s known as the “Hippest Street in Town” (South Street), Jim’s has been serving some Philadelphians’ their favorite wiz “wit’ or ‘witout” for over four decades.

The always-crowded sandwich spot is excited to be serving up delicious options at the airport. Now, travelers can get their cheesesteak fix before they leave the city, or if in Philly for a quick layover. And if not in the mood for an original Philly cheesesteak, there are plenty of other steak sandwiches, including meatless options for passengers to choose — as well as a variety of egg sandwiches and hoagies — classic Italian, Italian with a twist, turkey, tuna, and more.

“Jim’s South Street Steaks is no doubt an original that is known for its cheesesteak-making know-how,” said Mel Hannah, Vice President and General Manager of Philadelphia Marketplace. “We’re so happy to have this famous cheesesteak restaurant in our airport for our passengers to enjoy.”

Jim’s South Street Steaks is the newest addition to airport retail developer MarketPlace PHL’s award-winning portfolio at PHL. Jim’s is open daily from 5:15 a.m. to 10:20 p.m. Jim’s has earned prestige nationally and locally as a five-time winner of Philadelphia Magazine’s “Best of Philly” award, is Zagat rated, and has been highly ranked by Bon Appetit Magazine, Thrillist Magazine, and Eater Philly in the past.
