Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Debuts Terminal E Expansion at

Philadelphia International Airport with New Food/Retail Options

PHILADELPHIA — February 16, 2010 — The Philadelphia Marketplace Food & Shops and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) unveiled the Terminal E expansion on February 16 with a ribbon cutting by Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter. The space includes three exciting new food and retail options as well as seven additional Southwest Airlines gates.
This is the second phase of an extensive airport expansion project which began with the opening of the D/E Connector in December 2008. Home to 10 new shops and eateries, as well as a new, larger security checkpoint, the D/E Connector has brought in sales of over $5.3 million since its debut.
Merchants now open in the new Terminal E Expansion include:

  • Cantina Laredo: a stylish sit-down restaurant offering gourmet Mexican fare and spirits in a sophisticated atmosphere.
  • McDonald’s: the world-famous fast food eatery serves up burgers, sandwiches, fries, breakfast and more. This is a second location for the national food chain at PHL in addition to International Terminal A-West.
  • Stellar News: a news, book and gift retailer providing passengers with the latest bestsellers, magazines and newspapers, as well as souvenirs and snacks. Other Stellar News locations are in Terminal D and B/C Baggage Claim.

Recent additions to the food and retail lineup in Concourse E include Chickie’s & Pete’s, Guava & Java, Maki of Japan and Sbarro. Elsewhere in PHL, merchants have debuted new locations including Auntie Anne’s Pretzels in Concourse C and B/C Baggage Claim, as well as Johnnie’s Dog House in B/C Baggage Claim.
Looking forward, Legal Sea Foods will land in the B/C Connector this summer, as well as Wendy’s. Both are opening their first-ever PHL locations.
